블로고스피어 (Blogosphere)

Blogosphere (alternate: blogsphere) is the collective term encompassing all weblogs or blogs; blogs as a community; blogs as a social network. Weblogs are densely interconnected; bloggers read others' blogs, link to them, reference them in their own writing, and post comments on each others' blogs. Because of this, the interconnected blogs have grown their own culture.

굳이 번역하면 '블로그 세계' 정도가 될텐데 world라는 단어 대신 'sphere'를 사용함으로써 다의적이며 포괄된 의미를 내포하고 있다. 혹은 생태계라는 의미를 담아 world보다는 sphere를 사용한 듯 하다.

블로그스피어라고 써야 할 것이라 생각했으나 블로고스피어라고 쓰고 읽는 사람도 꽤 많은 것 같다. 원래 '블로고스피어가 맞다'고 쓰려 했으나 실제 검색을 해 보니 '블로고스피어'는 164 개의 결과가 '블로그스피어'는 10,200 개의 결과가 나왔다. 영어로 'Blogoshpere'는 18,900,000 개의 결과가 나왔으며 'Blogsphere'는 1,030,000 개의 결과가 나왔다. 한국에서는 그리 자주 쓰는 단어가 아니고 블로그스피어라고 자주 쓰는 편이니 어떤 걸 쓰든 상관없을 듯 하다.
